Travel Funding for Students

The PhytoScholars program was funded through a generous grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (Niehs), with the theme: “Education of Environmental Leaders of the Future: Phytotechnologies For Sustainable Environment And Food Safety Conference Program – Kerala, India”

As part of the 18th Annual International Phytotechnologies Conference, the PhytoScholars program will support student participation at the conference and offer support to help train and inspire the next generation of professionals and academic researchers.

We can offer a limited number of travel scholarships of $1,500 – 2,000. The recipients are to submit abstracts to present original research at the conference. PhytoScholars will be supported for the 2024 annual meeting of the IPS and be involved in the following professional development activities:

  • Networking
    • Luncheon with the conference organizing committee and invited speakers
    • Mixer with phytotechnologies professionals
  • Professional development for phytotechnologies Writing and communication skills
    • Participation in discussions with panels and session moderators
    • Prepare a summary of discussions with experts
    • Produce a summary statement on the application of a phytotechnology to a current environmental health issue
    • Complete a formatted feedback form and reflection statement on their experiences
    • Invited to submit a paper to the IJP special conference issue (full peer-review)
  • Professional development in environmental health
    • Mandatory attendance of conference sessions
    • Participation in conference host tours of projects, facilities, and field sites associated with phytotechnologies

The scholarship amounts are capped at $2,000 (USD) per recipient, and the scholarships will be reimbursed to the recipients upon submission of receipts from the conference. Selection will be based on geographical representation of applicants, impact on the scholar’s career, and proposed presentation abstract. Apply with the following form or online at: click here
